THE ROLE
The Industrials and Materials Editor will work closely with the Global Industrials and Energy Managing Editor to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment community. The ideal candidate will possess extensive industry contacts and demonstrate the ability to develop new relationships with experts who can speak to strategic trends in the cyclical industry. Effective team management skills and the ability to present research findings to clients, both on the phone and in-person, are other key aspects of the role. The Industrials and Materials Editor reports to the Global Industrials and Energy Managing Editor.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Ø Thorough understanding of the China Materials and/or Industrials markets, with a strong background in steel, seeds, fertilizer, cement, etc., and/or heavy equipment and mining equipment. Ability and willingness to understand renewable energy and oil and gas markets also a plus.
Ø Extensive industry network of contacts in the China sector, beyond public relations and investor relations
Ø Minimum of 7-10 years experience in industrial materials , investigative journalism experience a plus
Ø Exhibits consultative leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a diverse group of people across a time zone diverse virtual environment
Ø The ability to analyze and identify essential findings; strategize and think broadly forward; address issues and solve problems as they come up
Ø Excellent English writing and editing skills, a knack for interpreting interview data and spotting discrepancies in a story
Ø Native level Chinese spoken
Ø Ability to attend conferences
Ø Schedule flexibility is a must due to working with clients, reporters and editors in different world time zones
Ø Strong and positive communication skills are of essence; adroitness at conveying and articulating stories to a wide audience, including clients
Ø The ability to maintain a positive attitude, self-motivation and confidence
Ø Candidates with international experience are a plus
Ø Candidate needs to be located in and work in China.
