The concept of climate security is still new in China, even though
Beijing has committed to a broad climate change agenda that targets a
substantial increase in energy efficiency as well as an expansion of
renewable energy use and forestation. What shifts in domestic, foreign
and security policies can be expected from China as it broadens its
focus from combating climate change to implementing measures to deal
with climate security? What could be the implications for the region and
possibly even for global security mechanisms?
